Small Workshop Blues

I think us shed-dwellers all dream of having more space.

My workshop is a challenge to navigate on the best of days, but after plodding away down there for over 6 years, I’m proud to say that I’ve designed some great storage solutions that help protect my timber and tools.

My workshop is roughly 6m x 2.5m. I’m also governed by two large poles that act as the supports for our home, so moving materials, tools and projects around the area is a bit of mental puzzle.

Add to this the disadvantage of my workshop being outside undercover. Living coastal means cast iron and steel surfaces tend to get hammered (check out the photo of my chisels below…). I’ve begun to come to terms with my space and am on a mission to not only make the most of my allocated workshop area, but also do everything I can do to preserve my tools.

Periodically I’ll add updates of my workshop furniture builds showing my ideas on how to make the most of the space that I have.
